Sudbury Chess Club meeting

About Sudbury Chess Club

Welcome to Sudbury Chess Club, where players of all ages and abilities come together to enjoy the royal game. Whether you're a complete beginner taking your first steps into chess or an experienced player looking to sharpen your skills, you'll find a warm welcome at our club.

We meet every Wednesday evening at 7:30pm at the Sudbury Institute Club, located at 54 Station Road, Sudbury, CO10 2SP. Our venue provides a comfortable and friendly environment where members can enjoy casual games, participate in club competitions, and improve their chess skills through practice and discussion.

Getting to our club nights is convenient, with free parking available after 6pm in Station Road Car Park, located next to Kingfisher Leisure Centre. This makes it easy for members to join us without worrying about parking costs or availability.

Membership is just £20 per year, representing excellent value for weekly chess sessions and club activities. Our membership year runs from September through to August, and members joining mid-year will pay a reduced rate.

New players are especially welcome, and we encourage prospective members to attend club nights for a few weeks before paying any fees. This gives you the opportunity to meet our members, experience the friendly atmosphere, and decide if Sudbury Chess Club is the right fit for you. We believe chess is more than just a game—it's about community, learning, and building lasting friendships around the board.

As we play at the Sudbury Institute Club, we recommend that chess club members also join the institute. Institute membership is just £20 per year and provides access to all the other activities and facilities offered by the institute.
